Jekyll Island is a fun place to visit any time of year, but you have to come here on the third weekend in September for some of the best shrimp and grits you’ll ever experience. The event is organized by Southern Living and includes delicious food, wildlife demonstrations, craft beer, a kids zone, an artists’ market and entertainment for the whole family. Admission to the festival is free, but there is a fee for parking. This festival takes place under the oak trees in the National Historic District on the island and lasts three days – Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
